IBM大型主机技术2011全国应用大赛（以下简称“大赛”）是由IBM公司主办，由IBM主机大学合作项目（以下简称为“合作项目”）的伙伴高校（以下简称为“合作高校”）承办和协办，于2011年9月9日开始至2011年12月8日结束，面向全国高等院校在校在读本科生、研究生，分为个人赛和团队赛两个并行的部分，个人赛由学生独自报名参赛，团队赛由高校教师组队指导，最终均由大赛评选委员会评选出优胜，在颁奖典礼上授予奖杯、证书和奖金的活动。
世界知名商业杂志《福布斯》曾经评选出“改变我们生活方式的85个发明”，IBM主机系列的S/360便名列其中。
随着企业充分认识到业务流程自动化所带来的成本和竞争优势，怎样由复杂的功能存在到物理意义上的整合，再到逻辑意义上的简化，便成为了企业，尤其是大型企业最想解决的问题，而IBM系列主机正是为此在不断地给出越来越好的答案。
目前，IBM大型主机服务器在中国主要应用于金融、交通、制造等支柱行业。在全球，70%以上的企业数据运行在大型主机平台上；财富排行1000强的企业绝大部分都在使用大型主机。
然而一个事实正悄然叩响企业管理者的心弦：现在53%的主机从业人员都已工作20年以上。这意味着未来十年将是主机人才需求最旺盛的时期。
中国作为21世纪全球经济最瞩目的地区之一，拥有大量具备高素质培养潜力的人才资源。从2006年至今，由IBM倡导主办的大型主机技术全国应用大赛已成功举办五年。作为IBM主机大学合作项目最重要的子项之一，大型主机技术全国应用大赛始终秉承着发掘人才、培养人才、展现人才的观念，全力以赴地为国内主机人才培养打造一个广阔的舞台，为开展主机人才教育的高校建立起一座连接业界的桥梁。

No experience with mainframes is necessary. In fact, the contest is designed for students with little or no mainframe experience, increasing with difficulty as the contest progresses. Students just need to bring drive and competitive spirit and be ready to compete!

Welcome to the IBM Master the Mainframe Contest! The object of this part of the contest is to get you acquainted with the mainframe interface as well as with some basic user commands. The downloadable instructions provided below will lead you through exactly what you need to do to successfully complete Part 1 of the contest. The faster you complete this section, the better your chances of winning.
Once you complete this section, you will finally get a certificate in the end of the contest. Good luck!
The Part 1 instructions will be available here when the contest opens on 19 Sep 2011.
You must complete Part 1 of the contest before beginning Part 2. The object of this part of the contest is to get you acquainted with some of the more practical aspects of systems programming and application development on the mainframe. These challenges are modeled after tasks that are commonly performed in z/OS shops.
The instructions are not nearly as detailed for this part of the contest. You might have to use some additional resources, along with your newly acquired mainframe expertise, to complete the challenges.
The first 300 contestants to complete this section will each win an IBM tennis bag!
The Part 2 instructions will be available here when the contest opens on 19 Sep 2011.
You must complete Parts 1 and 2 of the contest before beginning Part 3. After completing Parts 1 and 2, send an email to ibmur@cn.ibm.com with the subject "Part 3 signup" to be registered as a Part 3 contestant. Please do not send this email before completing Parts 1 and 2.
Once notified of your intent to compete in Part 3, IBM will send you an email within five business days with further instructions for accessing the Part 3 challenges.
Part 3 is set up as a series of increasingly difficult challenges. The object of this part of the contest is to get you involved much deeper with the workings of the z/OS mainframe system. You will be tackling issues that occur in real-world IT shops.
Those skilled enough to be one of the top 5 people to complete this round successfully will win an Apple iPad 2 as prize! !
The Part 3 instructions will be available here when the contest opens on 19 Sep 2011.
Part 3 of the contest ends on 10 Nov 2011 midnight.
IBM does not necessarily expect all contestants to complete every challenge. The winners of Part 3 will be the students who complete the most tasks (in sequence) correctly. Challenge 1 must be completed to receive credit for completing Challenge 2, and so forth. Each challenge must be done 100% correctly, so be careful.
Open to students in China, 18 years of age and older. Do not enter if you are not located in China at the time of entry.
1. The Sponsor of this competition is IBM China Limited, 11 North 4 Ring Middle Road Beijing, P.R.China (the "Sponsor").
2. Registration website: To qualify for participation in the competition, you must first complete the online registration form. Registration is open from 9 Sep 2011 0:00AM until 31 Oct 2011 11:59PM Beijing Time (BJT). Follow all instructions and complete the online registration form in its entirety. This process does not constitute entry, but rather registration as a potential entrant. You must be 18 years of age or older.
3. Submit your entry: Once students have completed the online registration form, the Sponsor will provide a mainframe user ID (to enable students to complete the tasks for the contest) within 5 business days of registration (which begins on 9 Sep 2011). System resources are finite for this contest and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. If sufficient system resources do not exist, the entrant will not be allowed to compete in the contest. For Parts 1 and 2 of the contest, students submit entries by transmitting data sets to an IBM user ID on the mainframe, as described in the contest instructions. Contestants must submit an entry for Part 1 before they submit an entry for Part 2. To enter Part 3, after completion of Part 1 & Part 2, students must send an email to ibmur@cn.ibm.com by midnight on 31 Oct 2011. Students will receive a new user ID for Part 3. Contest judges (as described in Rule #6) will log into the student's account for Part 3 to verify the completion of Part 3 tasks; no formal submission of datasets needs to be made.
4. All entries must be submitted to and received by the sponsor between 0:00AM on 9 Sep 2011 (BJT) and 11:59PM on 31 Oct 2011 (BJT). Entry is deemed submitted by the authorized account holder of the email address used as the user name at the time of registration. Authorized account holder is defined as the natural person who is assigned to the email address by an Internet access provider, online service provider, or other organization responsible for assigning email addresses for the domain associated with the submitted email address. If your registration form is incomplete, you will not be eligible for the contest. The Sponsor assumes no responsibility for computer system, hardware, software, network program, or other errors, failures, or malfunctions of any kind, whether human or technical in nature, in the transmission or receipt of entries or registrations. Part 3 of the contest will be judged according to criteria in rule #3.
5. IBM will not return the participants' entries. IBM will not provide individual feedback regarding incorrect entries.
6. Part 3 entries will be judged by a panel of qualified judges beginning on or about 10 Nov 2011. Judges' decisions are final in all matters relating to the contest and no correspondence will be entered into. Entrants will be judged on the number of predefined tasks they are able to complete in order before the end of the contest, as outlined in Part 3 of the contest instructions. In the event of a tie, the winner will be the entrant having the most complete crossword and clearest written answers to all questions in Part 3. The Sponsor reserves the right to cancel or suspend this contest should a virus, bugs or other causes beyond the Sponsor's control corrupt the administration, security, or proper judging of the contest. If the Sponsor detects harmful system activity, harmful network activity, or use of the systems for activity beyond the scope of the contest, the Sponsor reserves the right to remove system resources or to revoke user IDs from the contest. The Sponsor is not responsible for technical failures of any kind, including, but not limited to malfunctions, interruptions, or disconnections in phone lines or network hardware or software.
7. Submission of an entry constitutes your acceptance of the conditions and rules of the contest.
8. The contest is open to students 18 years or older who are enrolled full-time or part-time at a university in China and are residing in China. Students may only submit one entry in each part (Part 1, Part 2 & Part 3) of the contest. Students who have not registered for the contest during the registration period will not be eligible to submit an entry to the contest. Proof of enrolment may be required. Employees of IBM (including regulars, contractors and interns) and judges of the Mainframe Contest and the immediate family members and household members of each are not eligible to enter the contest.
9. Part 2 Prizes (300): One Prize will be awarded to the first 300 students to complete Part 2 of the contest correctly. The prize is an IBM tennis bag. (approximate Recommended Retail Price of RMB￥150.00 inclusive of GST).
10. Part 3 Prizes: Up to 5 Apple iPad Wi-Fi 16GB (Recommended Retail Price of RMB￥3688.00 inclusive of GST) are available for students who score 10 points or higher in Part 3 (total of 15 points). To compete in Part 3, you must successfully complete Part 1 and 2 of the competition. Among the students who score 10 points or higher, up to 5 highest scored students will be awarded the prize. In the case of a tie, IBM will provide a tie breaker question. Tie breaker questions will be provided until a winner is decided.
11. By accepting prizes, winners further agree to release IBM and its subsidiaries, affiliates and related companies and each of their respective officers, directors, employees and agents (the "Contest Parties") from any and all liability, loss or damage of any kind arising out of or in connection with the winners' participation in this contest, or with respect to awarding, receipt, possession, use and/or misuse of any prize, or to participation in the contest or in prize-related activities. By accepting prizes, winners further acknowledge that the Contest Parties have neither made, nor are in any manner responsible or liable for, any warranty, representation or guarantee, expressed or implied in fact or in law, relative to prize or to any portion thereof, including but not limited to its quality, merchantability, mechanical condition, or fitness for a particular purpose.
12. Except where prohibited and subject to the acceptance of a prize by the winner, the Sponsor reserves the rights to use his/her name and image in publications following the contest.
13. Winners of Part 1, Part 2 and Part 3 will be notified via email within 2 months of the proposed contest completion date of 15 Nov 2011. Prizes are not transferable and cannot be taken as cash. Prizes will be delivered to the address specified in the winners' registration forms. Delivery only within China.
14. By submitting entries, the entrant grants the Sponsor and its agents of this contest the right to publish, use, adapt, sell, edit and/or modify such entry (and electronic communications related to such entry) in any way, in commerce, and in any and all media worldwide, including but not limited to the Internet, without limitation and without compensation to the entrants. The entrant also grants the Sponsor a worldwide irrevocable, nonexclusive and royalty free right and license to use, have used, copy, reproduce, transfer, modify and/or display any information contained in their entry in whole or part and in any form without compensation. Entries must be entrant's own original creations, must not infringe on third party rights, must not have won previous awards, must not have been posted on another web site prior to submission and must be suitable for publication. Winners may be required to sign an additional affidavit/license (except where prohibited) to this effect. Entrants agree to be bound by the official contest rules.
15. At the Sponsor's discretion, entrants may be required to submit source code to substantiate results reported in the entry.
16. The Sponsor accepts no responsibility for any tax liability incurred as a result of an entrant participating in the Promotion. Entrants should obtain independent tax and financial advice.

大赛团队赛的参赛单位必须是团队，该团队必须由高校教师带队，由4位在校在读本科生或研究生组队，且所有成员必须来自于IBM主机大学合作项目伙伴高校。
参赛团队就IBM大型主机技术进行学习、研究、实践，并在某一应用领域设计开发出一件可执行、可演示的作品。
团队赛分为初赛和决赛两个部分。
本次大赛不限主题，参赛队伍可根据自身特点自行选题，所有选题必须以使用大型主机技术为主，能够在主机环境中执行和演示。
如果由于时间和技术限制，计划的某些功能未能完全实现，可以在相关文档中说明。但未完成功能不得影响其他已完成功能的可执行性。
完整作品必须包含的内容有：项目说明书、需求分析、演示案例、源代码。
可选择包含的内容有：演示录像。
初赛阶段由IBM主机大学合作项目伙伴高校自行组织，形式和日程安排不限，但必须在2011年11月20日前决出唯一优胜团队代表所在高校进入全国决赛。
各伙伴高校在初赛阶段决出的唯一优胜团队，必须在2011年11月20日前将作品的所有内容刻录成光盘（一式两份），提交到：

决赛定于2011年12月8日在北京举行。决赛中，每个团队按抽签顺序出场，进行15分钟现场演示和10分钟现场答辩。IBM公司将邀请所有正是注册决赛的队伍前往北京参加决赛和颁奖典礼，并安排所有成员在北京本地的住宿、正餐和相关事宜。
本次大赛注重作品的应用性、实用性、合理性和完整性，审核的内容包括：
1) 项目说明书：描述作品的应用领域、创作思路，对实际问题的解决方案和实现模型，对作品进行系统性介绍，对使用的技术机制进行分析，对各个模块进行功能描述，并给出主要数据流程和系统结构图，字数限定在15000字以内，满分20分；
2） 需求分析：分析产品的市场需求以及投入市场的可能性和定位方式，字数限定在5000字以内，满分10分；
3) 演示案例：满分10分；
4) 带有较为详细注释的源代码：包括各种代码说明文件和源文件，说明编译环境、编译选项、执行方式等，满分10分；
5) 演示录像：作为补充便于评委会了解和审核产品的功能(不记分)；
6） 决赛现场演示：30分；
7） 决赛现场答辩：20分。
团队赛将评出团队一等奖一个，颁发证书，团队成员包括指导老师每人将获得Apple iPad Wi-Fi 16GB (Recommended Retail Price of RMB￥3688.00 inclusive of GST)一个。二等奖三个，颁发证书和奖杯。三等奖若干，颁发证书。

2.1 前言
2011年秋天，IBM公司将举办由所有中国大学生参加的第一次大型主机竞赛。

2.2.4 重要事项
IBM公司不期待所有的参赛者都完成每一阶段的竞赛。第三阶段的获胜者必须是完成正确题数最多的学生（按顺序排列）。为了能够参加第二阶段的比赛你必须先完成第一阶段的比赛并获得作为进入第二阶段凭证的证书，同样，你要进入第三阶段也需要第二阶段的证书。每一阶段的比赛都必须获得100%的正确率。所以，你要加倍留心喽！
2.3 官方手册
本次竞赛只对18岁及以上的中国学生开放。如果你不是中国籍或不在这个年龄阶段请不要参加。
2.3.1 2011年IBM大型主机中国区竞赛官方规则
1、本次竞赛的倡议者是位于北京4环中路北11号的IBM中国有限公司。
2、注册网站：为了获得参赛资格，你首先必须完成在线注册。注册时间自北京时间2011年9月9日午夜12点开始至2011年10月31日晚11:59结束。请按照说明书来完成所有的在线注册表格。这个注册过程不是一个指定入口，而只是注册作为一个潜在的参赛者。记住：你必须年满18岁！
3、提交你的申请表格：一旦学生们完成在线注册，主办方将会在注册（2011年9月9日开始）完成后的5个工作日内给申请人提供一个主机用户ID（这个账号使学生们能够完成本次竞赛的任务）。由于本次竞赛的系统资源有限，我们将会本着先到先得的原则来进行账号分配。如果系统资源不够，申请者就不允许参加这个比赛。第一第二阶段的比赛，学生们必须同在竞赛说明书里描述的那样提交并传送数据集到一个IBM主机上的用户ID里。参赛者在提交第二阶段的数据前必须先提交第一阶段的数据。在完成第一第二阶段后，进入第三阶段的学生们必须在2011年10月31日午夜之前给ibmur@cn.ibm.com这个邮箱账号发送一封邮件。学生们将获得一个新的为第三阶段准备的用户ID。竞赛评判（像规则6描述的那样）将会记录进学生的账号，以便验证第三阶段任务的完成情况。同时，保证没有任何正常的数据集会被修改。
4、所有的申请都必须在北京时间2011年9月9日午夜12点至2011年10月31日晚11:59这段时间内提交并得到主办方的回复。注册申请必须以权威账号持有者的邮箱作为用户名。所谓权威账号持有人是指一个拥有网络访问提供商或在线服务提供商及其它组织提供的邮件地址的自然人。而这些邮箱被提供商管理。如果你没有完成注册，你将没有参赛的资格。在传输与接收申请和注册时，不管是人为地或技术原因，比如计算机系统、硬件、软件、网络程序发生错误、失败、故障或其他任何情况，主办方都没有任何责任要对此负责。第三阶段比赛的评判将依据规则3中的标准。
5、IBM公司不会退回参赛者的申请表。同时，IBM公司也不会单独地给非正确申请的申请人提供反馈信息。
6、第三阶段的申请将由一个权威的委员会来评判，评判时间从2011年10月31日开始。关于比赛的所有事项的最终评判决定不能有任何异议。同在第三阶段比赛说明书里说的一样，入围者在比赛结束之前应该主动挑选他们自认为能够完成的预定义任务。如果两队选的任务一样，完成第三阶段问题中最多纵横填字谜且答案最清晰的队伍将获胜。主办方保留取消或怀疑本次比赛的权利
7、申请创建你的支票必须服从本次本赛的条件和规则。
8、本次比赛只面向在中国居住且年满18岁的中国在读或半工半读大学生。学生们在每一阶段的比赛中都只需要提交一张申请表。没有在注册期间进行注册的学生将没有提交竞赛申请的资格。注册验证是必须的。IBM公司的雇员（包括固定员工、承包商和实习生）和主机竞赛评委及其直系亲属、家族成员都不能参加本次竞赛。
9、第二阶段奖项（300人）：一个奖项是为奖励第二阶段比赛的前300名而设立的。奖品是一个IBM网球包。（这个包推荐零售价为含税150元人民币）
10、第三阶段奖项：5台Apple公司带Wi-Fi功能、内存16G的iPad电脑（推荐零售价为含税3688元人民币）提供给有能力在第三阶段取得10分（满分15分）及以上的学生。在完成第三阶段比赛之前，你必须先成功地完成第一、第二阶段的比赛。我们将奖励取得10分及以上的学生中的前5名。为了防止打成平手的情况，IBM将提供平局闯关问题。平局闯关问题将会不断的提供直到有人胜出。
11、本规则是关于接受奖项后的参赛者的作品和个人权利方面的，限于时间和能力问题暂时不翻译。相信大家都能够看的懂。
12、除了那些禁止和需要得到授权才能使用的获奖者的权利，举办方将保留在接下来的比赛中公开使用他/她名字和肖像的权利。
13、第一、第二和第三阶段的获奖者将在比赛的计划结束日期2011年11月15日后的两个月内通过邮件通知。奖品不能交换，也不能换取现金。奖品将按获奖者注册表格上指定的地址进行邮寄。注意，邮寄仅限中国境内。
14、作品一经提交，参赛者就默认授权给主办方及其本次竞赛的代理机构无偿且不受限制地以任何形式（包括商业上），在世界范围内的不限于互联网的任何媒体发布、使用、改编、出售、编辑和修改作品（该作品的电子通讯也包含在内）。同时，参赛者也授权给主办方在世界范围内以任何形式无偿地以不可变更、非独享和无专利费的方式注册使用、复制、重新改写、转换和修改包含在该作品中的部分或全部信息的权利。作品必须是参赛者原创、不侵犯任何第三方权利、也未获过奖、没有在任何其他网站上公布过的适合发布的。为了这个原因，获奖者可能需要额外签一个承诺书（里面不包含禁止的信息的权利）。参赛者承诺在官方竞赛规则范围内进行比赛。
15、在主办方评定的时候，参赛者有可能会被要求提交源代码来证实作品中所述的结果的真实性。
16、主办方没有承担参赛者在参赛过程中产生的任何税务债务的义务。参赛者应该拥有独立的税务和金融建议能力。
